BMW 1-Series three door hatchback variant of Model - Nearly a year after the introduction of the second generation of the 1-series five-door hatchback, BMW has presented a second body variant to its range in the form of a three-door hatchback added a new flagship model, M135i, which has been on display before the production at the Geneva motor show in March.

The new three-door models inherit the style of five-door 1 Series with the only change worth mentioning as wider doors with frameless windows. Today, BMW announced the availability of a new line of Performance Parts Series 3-2012 M for the latest and the 2011-2012 5-Series sedan in the U.S. market. The range consists of a chassis, aerodynamics, cockpit, and powertrain components.

Starting with the wheel, M Performance Parts catalog includes 20-inch forged alloy rims for the latest 3-Series and 5-Series models, the company says is 1kg (2.4 lbs) per wheel lighter than standard wheels the same size.

To improve braking performance, there is a big Brembo brake kit with calipers, painted red, yellow or orange, and sports brake discs measuring 370 x 30 mm on the front wheel and 345 x 24 mm on the rear axle.

For turbocharged six-cylinder 335i and 535i sedan, BMW offers a sport exhaust system complete with two chrome-plated tailpipes 80 mm.

Outside, M Performance Parts catalog including high-gloss black kidney grille and carbon fiber mirror caps for both 3 - and 5-Series model, racing stripes for the Series 3 -, and carbon fiber rear deck lid spoiler for 5 sedan series.

There are various interior items such as flat bottom, the motor sport-inspired wheels, steering for the 3-Series Alcantara, carbon fiber and Alcantara trim seven-part interior set for both the sedan, and the carbon fiber and the gearshift selector lever for vehicles with manual or automatic transmission .

BMW noted that all the parts come with a factory warranty.

Mitsubishi Mirage sub-compact models have been officially confirmed to be sold in Canada while the Japanese automaker is also contemplating launching a five-door hatchback in the U.S.

According to Mitsubishi's annual presentation to the full-year sales and financial results for fiscal 2011 ended March 31, 2012, Mirage will be sold in North America in the first quarter of 2013 (FY2012/4Q).

Mitsubishi spokesman Roger Yasukawa told Autonews that Mirage will be sold in Canada, but U.S. sales are still "under consideration" and that "it is 50-50 now."

There are several reasons why Mitsubishi's decision to hold back the U.S. launch of Mirage, the first is a tight marketing budget as the company plans to introduce a new Outlander.

"Our concern from the perspective of time is that the Outlander out next year, not too far from the launch of the possibility of the Mirage, we should really think about the resources," said Yasukawa.

The second issue related to the Mirage as a model five-door, city car is designed as an affordable, especially for emerging markets.

"There are competitors out there that are new and most of them recently released or coming out soon," said Yasukawa. "It's still young, growing segment in the U.S., and we should explain that in our decision."

Mirage is close to the size of the Chevrolet Spark than the Ford Fiesta because of the size of the 146-inch (3710 mm) long, 65.5 inches (1665 mm) wide and 58.7 inches (1490 mm) high. In other markets it is offered with two choices, three-cylinder gasoline engine with a displacement of 1.0 liter and 1.2-liter.
